"Seldom in the course of human history have so many sacrificed so dearly to achieve so little."
That was a quote within a post, I dared to write (and
was dared to write) -- some 2 months ago:
Was the War in Iraq Worth It?
by jamess -- Mar 29, 2015
It had a community Poll, asking the same question posed in the Title:
Was the War in Iraq Worth It?
A poll which ended up with some very one-sided results (in the neighborhood of 90% saying No.)
Of course the over $2,000,000,000,000.00 price tag may have had something to do with the one-sided response,
-- still I would like to think, it is more due to the fact that Americans are finally waking up to the uncomfortable fact -- that we were mis-led into War.
Mis-led by by perennial War Hawks, like Bill Kristol who would have us "do it all over again" -- if it were up to him (or his sponsors). Even today.
Some Chicken-hawks never learn. That their ideas are Dangerous. That their ideas have Consequences.
Regarding that dare ... which I was foolish enough to answer, here was the motivating Post:
[...]
Well, this Long War has cost us death, maiming, and life-long trauma to some hundreds of thousands of Americans. The money we use to pay for this war turns out to be damn near the same as what we borrow, at interest, to create our deficits.
We've lost whatever 'soft power' we had as everybody on earth now knows that the US will torture, invade, and do every unjust thing we used to, at least seemed to, stand against.
[...]
But there's not one fucking newpaper, not one fucking politician, which has anything to say about the massive failure, in fact, the disaster for the US and humanity in general, of our Aggressive War practices.
You can find one? Please post that. And then, of the tens of thousands of politicians and journalists in the US, we'll have that one. Heck maybe even five or ten can be named.
Now here's how you can prove me wrong. I Dare You.
I'm speaking to you all you Internet Users. Frontpager, blog reader, fan or critic, left, right, center, or just loves pooties; this site or any another at all, listserv users, emailers, have your Face booked, have your tweets atwitter... I want you to marshall ALL your Internet Powers.
In the period of the next month, force the issue of our seriously failed war-making strategy to be a front and center discussion among our politicians and media (including the think tanks).

The Internet as a real tool for real change is delusional. And I can prove it. -- Mar 29, 2015
Well, it took a bit longer than a month, but the Topic of the Iraq Blunder is now, 'front and center' -- for all the world to mull over, before the next head-strung Kristolyte -- goads us into yet another too costly foreign conflict.
Take a bow "Internet Users" and company ... we've earned it.
We CAN move National Dialogs ... all be have to do is, dare to speak our minds.
