Tallahassee, FL. Pretty modest diary today but I haven't done one in a while.
Other observations include a pair of black-bellied whistling ducks flying over the lake last night (not seen from the yard unfortunately) as well as a leopard frog (removed from the pool) and numerous anoles (including one I can basking on one of our deck chairs).
Water snake (Nerodia species) on lotus leaf (leaf is about 2 feet across). Lake Jackson, Tallahassee, FL.
Green tree frog, Hyla cinerea, on Aloe saporaia flower stalk.
These pictures all taken with my phone due to not having any real camera with me. Frustrating experience both times: snake was too far and no zoom, frog required holding the camera at an odd angle to get the photo. Normally I would hold my finger on the button to get the photo at just the right moment in that circumstance but with a virtual button that doesn't seem to be possible.
