So last year, when I went to my yearly mandated wellness checkup, they told me I had diabetes and COPD before hastily backtracking when the test results came in. Turns out many of the symptoms of my bone disease mirror those of untreated diabetes.
So you could understand my skepticism when this year's checkup came back with diabetes again.
I told my doctor, who set me up with blood tests at a different lab. And it turns out the tests came back diabetes. Not just diabetes. Hella diabetes. "Check again, are you sure your kidneys are functioning?" diabetes.
I know it's a small thing. It's a small thing compared to what I have to live with, let alone what many of the rest of y'all have to. No one's going to shoot me in the street for having diabetes.
But dammit, eating was about all I had left. I like sandwiches and large combo burritos with french fries and sweet tea or Dr. Pepper. I've cut back on my soda intake before this diagnosis, but there's a huge difference between cutting back and not getting to have something anymore.
I'm sorry to whine about it here. I'm not asking for money or help, though advice on adjusting to living with diabetes would be appreciated.
It's
Just
One
More
Goddamned
Thing.
